Made by Hand, Slowly

Most of the pieces shown here are one-of-a-kind jewels, fabricated directly in the metal by hand on my petite jeweler’s bench located in the kitchen of our home. I like to keep it simple. And I like working directly in the materials, whether it is wood, metal, or stone. A good deal of the enjoyment of the process of “creating” for me is the manipulation and fashioning of one shape into another, in three dimensions, and the tactile sensations of running my fingers over a surface. Hands are very receptive and generative, both.

Nara Wood and I have been life and work partners for many years. We have collaborated on many projects, and are currently making pendants which combine Nara's watercolor paintings in miniature with my metal and wood work. The link above will show you our combined efforts. If you would like to see more of Nara's work there is a link to her website at the bottom of this page.
